Humane pitched the AI Pin as the thing that comes after the smartphone, which was bold for a product that was worse than a smartphone at being a computer, a phone, or a thing you wanted to keep charged.

Customers got a $699 device with a monthly fee, weak battery life, and uneven answers. Then HP folded the assets and some of the team into HP IQ, and the pins were effectively shut down. The smartphone survived.
