Friend is a little pendant that listens all the time and texts you things. The company calls it an always-listening AI companion and promises an "opinionated ghost in the machine," which is a phrase that does not become more comforting if you read it twice.

It is not totally clear whether Friend is a product, a stunt, or a million-dollar domain name wearing a necklace. In fairness, that also describes a lot of consumer AI.
